Silver and Tan Explained
Silver and Tan carries the Gene Formula (atBCdEGmrSt). It will reproduce its color only if bred to a dog of the same color or to a dog that is carrying the blue (d) gene recessively along with the graying (G) gene.
The Tan markings or Points of tan that show on the coat are specific to this gene. It can appear in varying shades from very light silvery brown to a deeper grayish brown color. The Tan points can also vary in shade from a light to darker in color. They are typically born darker and turn the Silver color as they mature.
