Fawn Explained
A Fawn Dog carries the Gene Formula (ayBCDEgmrSt).This color is recessive to the color black and dominant to the color black and tan. The color appears as a very light tan dog in appearance. It is the same formula as a Tan dog but the modifying genes that it carries fades the coat color down to the Fawn color. The color is  breed specific and when bred to a tan dog it may not produce the fawn color. This color can be confused with Tan Apricot which may look the same but in genetic formula the Tan Apricot dog has a (d) dilute blue gene along with the (ay) tan gene while the Fawn dog does not.
If this dog also has white on the coat it means that the (S) gene would be replaced with one of these White producing gene patterns, (si, or sp) in any combination.
