Blue Fawn Explained
A Blue Fawn/Isabella Dog carries the Gene Formula (ayatBCdEgmrSt) and will reproduce its color Only if it is bred to a dog that is the same color or carries the blue (d) along with the (ay) tan gene and the (at) black and tan color. It is the combining of these genes, (ayat/d) that produces the color. It can vary in shade from a light tan color with gray highlights or haze running down the topline and face to a deeper colored tan dog with dark gray hairs mixed in usually seen down the dogs back. These grayish hairs can appear to be only on the tips of some of the dogs hair giving a hazy appearance to the coat color. It is essentially the formula for a sable dog with the addition of the (d) gene.
